FOS Goodwood 2025 in a 1:64 scaled nutshell

Dust, sound and stars: the legendary Goodwood Festival of Speed once again transformed the British estate into a paradise for PS fans in 2025. In this article, we summarize the highlights, but in 1:64 scale - provided we have the right models...

75th anniversary of Formula 1, their cars, drivers and more:

Various F1 cars from kyosho and Sparky as well as MIniGT
We have Kyosho to thank for many of these wonderful F1 models, which we can marvel at. But MiniGT also contributed an F1 car in the form of the P34, as did Aoshima with the Williams FW11B and Sparky with the Haas car from 2024.

The Festival of Speed 2025 collaborated with Formula 1 to host the biggest celebration yet in honor of the 75th anniversary of the F1 World Championship. Goodwood used its unique position in global motorsport to create the ultimate tribute to the history of Formula 1 - together with Formula 1 in official partnership - bringing together many of the sport's biggest names for an unparalleled event. Formula 1 took center stage at the 2025 Festival of Speed as legendary drivers, teams, cars and more came together at the Goodwood Estate to pay tribute to their achievements. It was announced that this would be the biggest Festival of Speed celebration to date - with a scale to match the 75-year history of the F1 World Championship. More than 80 cars made up over half of the action on Goodwood Hill, while the surrounding areas were also transformed to make way for this monumental spectacle.

The Festival of Speed's main paddock, which traditionally includes the F1 pit lane, has been redesigned to allow a complete Formula 1 takeover. This transformed the center of the festival into a vibrant F1 hotspot. The area remained freely accessible to visitors, allowing fans to get closer to their favorite cars and drivers than anywhere else in the world - a Festival of Speed hallmark. This celebration also formed the foundation of the festival's overarching theme in 2025: 'The Winning Formula: Champions and Challengers' - a theme that encompassed many aspects of Formula 1 history. The exhibition was divided into six overarching categories that told the story of motorsport's premier class - from the early days of Grand Prix racing before the World Championship to the modern world of business and technology.

Alain Prost McLaren MP4/5 from Kyosho
Also from Kyosho: The legendary McLaren MP4/5 from 1989 - such models have become very sought after through the years!

The participation of four-time world champion Alain Prost had already been announced - he drove the legendary McLaren MP4/4 up the hill on Saturday and Sunday of the Festival of Speed. He was accompanied over the weekend by 1992 world champion Nigel Mansell and 1978 champion Mario Andretti - both driving the cars in which they once won their titles. Meanwhile, more exciting names were added to the list as preparations were made for the ultimate Formula 1 celebration at Goodwood. A total of eight Formula 1 world champions took part in the 2025 Festival of Speed - with representatives from the 1960s, 70s, 80s and 90s.

In addition to Prost, Mansell and Andretti, Sir Jackie Stewart, Emerson Fittipaldi, Damon Hill, Jacques Villeneuve and Mika HΓ€kkinen were also represented. Together, these eight drivers have won a total of 15 world championship titles - and were at the center of the celebrations around the Goodwood Estate. Stewart, the oldest living world champion, won his three titles in 1969, 1971 and 1973 for Ken Tyrrell's F1 team - initially under the name Matra, later as Tyrrell. He was undoubtedly regarded as the best driver of his time and succeeded the late Jim Clark.

Celebration of Gordon Murray

GMA T.50s from Hot Wheels Mainline
One of the only manufacturers allowed to release the GMA models under license. And for a $2.50 mainliner, Hot Wheels did everything right!

The Goodwood Festival of Speed (FoS) was the annual celebration for those who not only drove cars, but felt them. But in 2025, the FoS was even more special because it celebrated Gordon Murray - a car designer who had been creating extraordinary vehicles for 60 years. Gordon Murray, ingenious designer of true milestones in motorsport and automotive history, built his first car 60 years ago. The Goodwood Festival of Speed 2025 provided the stage to celebrate this extraordinary anniversary - marked by the features that characterized his designs: from the early Brabham and McLaren F1 cars to the latest supercars from GMA.

30th anniversary of Colin McRae

StarModel64 tried his hand at an exact replica of the iconic 1994 Subaru Impreza WRC with Colin McRae at the wheel! An absolute masterpiece!

The 2025 Festival of Speed included a special tribute to Colin McRae, the first British driver to win the World Rally Championship in 1995. Goodwood commemorated the 30th anniversary of this title win with a comprehensive display of the cars McRae drove during his hugely successful career. The Subaru Impreza 555, in which he won the championship with two rally victories and three podium finishes, naturally took center stage. The Colin McRae tribute was divided into two classes: The first consisted of cars he drove himself - including not only his title-winning Subaru, but also his Subaru Legacy from winning the 1993 Rally Malaysia, the Impreza from winning the 1997 RAC Rally and the Ford Focus WRC in which he won three rallies in 2001. These vehicles were complemented by many of the cars that McRae battled against and won in those days. On display were models from Toyota, Mitsubishi, Ford and other brands - an impressive collection that reflected an extremely competitive era of the World Rally Championship from the 1990s to the early 2000s.

5-time Le Mans winner Derek Bell:

Derek Bell's Le Mans winning cars Porsche 962 and McLaren F1
Derek Bell had a very successful time in motorsport with both Porsche and McLaren. Sparky released more 956s and 962s than ever before!

Goodwood was preparing for a big celebration in honor of the life and career of Derek Bell - 50 years after his first victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Bell, who grew up on a farm just a stone's throw from Goodwood Motor Circuit, was part of the Porsche works team that dominated the World Sportscar Championship in the 1980s and made him a motorsport legend. This success was commemorated at the 2025 Festival of Speed, presented by Mastercard - Bell was reunited with some of the cars he had driven during his career, including a Mirage GR8, a type of car he drove to victory at the Circuit de la Sarthe in 1975. But it was in the 1980s that Bell's career really reached new heights - when he became a works driver for Porsche. He took his second Le Mans victory in 1981 together with Jacky Ickx in the Porsche 936 - the beginning of a phase of great dominance by driver and machine. Bell joined the team at exactly the right time. The introduction of the Porsche 956 in 1982 marked a milestone in the history of sports car racing - the vehicle was clearly superior to the competition. Bell and his team colleagues took full advantage of this superiority and achieved numerous race victories over the next three years. Bell won again at Le Mans in 1982 and continued his winning streak with the Porsche 962, with which he took two more victories in 1986 and 1987.

A work of art in its own right: the McLaren F1 GTR from StarModel - like the original, not exactly cheap to buy but an absolute dream!

Bell won Le Mans again in 1982 and continued his winning streak with the Porsche 962, with which he took two more victories in 1986 and 1987. This took him to a total of five Le Mans victories - in what is probably the most famous endurance race in the world. Bell was similarly successful in the USA: three victories in the 24 Hours of Daytona - also with Porsche - were among his greatest successes. He also remained active in racing in the 1990s. He achieved his last podium at Le Mans in 1995 - together with his son Justin - at the wheel of a McLaren F1 GTR.

Driftcars, Hypercars, Concepts and future innovations:

brand new hot wheels Toyota Stout Truck Drift Car
The Drift Machines and GOODWOOD: Ryan Tuerck's Toyota Stout, which has just been released as a Hot Wheels Premium.

The presence of drift cars at the Festival of Speed was no longer a novelty at that time - but year after year, the steadily growing number of drivers and vehicles combined to create an increasingly impressive show. It was impossible to say exactly how many tires met their end during the four days in Goodwood, but one thing was certain: no one on site mourned their loss. They were short-lived consumables, sacrificed on the altar of spectacle and drama. It was simply impossible not to appreciate the skill of the drivers behind the wheel of these cars - how they chose to ignore straight lines and instead followed a more spectacular, twisty track that enveloped the entire Goodwood Estate in tyre smoke and shredded rubber. And the standard of driving at this year's Festival of Speed was particularly high, with many of the biggest names on the drifting scene taking to the hill over the weekend and putting on a breathtaking show. Like Mad Mike in his Mazda RX7 or Ryan Tuerck in his Toyota Stout Truck, to name just two of the many names and cars involved.

The Festival of Speed offered the biggest celebration of Formula 1 ever seen at Goodwood - but as always, there was far more than just motorsport to experience. It was also the place to see many of the world's most exciting new cars live for the first time - many of which made their dynamic debut on the famous Goodwood Hill. Such as: Aston Martin DB12 Volante, Aston Martin DBX S, Aston Martin Valhalla, BMW M2 CS, Ferrari F80, Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear, Lamborghini Temerario, Lanzante 95-59, Lotus Emira Turbo SE, Maserati GranCabrio Maserati GT2 Stradale, Maserati MCXtrema, McLaren W1, Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, Zenvo Aurora Tur, Honda Prelude, a future Toyota Supercar and many many more! Hopefully all in 1:64 scale in the future!
