MLGB in memory of Chris Cut – Acura NSX-T FEATURETTE – ONE LAST RIDE
Police report 01.04.2024:
Sad news reached us less than a day after we had presented a short video of a very unique model to the public on Instagram: Chris Cut's, 1996 NSX-T in camper style. The first of April in particular was of course a relatively unfavourable day to spread such a message. Many believed it was a bad April Fool's joke with a bland aftertaste. At the latest when a comment on his last Instagram post was fixed, which spoke of his death, it could definitely be assumed that Chris Cut was no longer with us. And indeed, in a recent FOX61 article, a police report mentioned a car accident in which Christopher Cutler (Chris Cut) was killed in his S2000. He was only 41 years old.
Chris' story is quite the interesting one as he was basically at sea for much of his adult life laboring as a commercial fisherman for 17 years. He admits the job was quite lucrative, but being away from his family, friends and project cars was the worst. He's come to appreciate living on American soil every day, which is perhaps what spawned the initial interest for this NSX camping project. Back when he was nine years old in 1992, he fell in love with the NSX because his dentist got one in silver. Years over years later, he was finally able to fulfil his dream!
2020 / 2021
He rose to fame in 2020 / 2021 with his bright red NSX. He had converted it into an elaborate long-term project as a campervan. Probably the hardest part of the custom project was how to get the tent onto the roof of the NSX. The corresponding model from MLGB can reveal more about this. The model reflects all the great details that make Chris Cut's gem so unique: The tent piece on the roof, the carbon fibre targa piece, even the NSX cut in half as a trailer. To give you a heads-up, this was assembled from a 1991 NSX accident car.
So one of these pieces of jewellery was not taken apart just for this purpose. The crashed car had been badly damaged twice, so Chris was able to buy the wrecked NSX at a very favourable price. Even his dog Cassius, a German Shepherd/Border Collie mix, is included as a figure. Always faithfully at Chris' side, embarking on adventures.
Travelling around the USA
Chris's aim was to convey the Forest Gump vibes with his dream car: To go from A to B across the USA and to meet people who follow his journey on Youtube, Instagram and co and even accompany him. "My goal for this first trip is to see as much of the country as possible. I want to camp out in national parks with my dog and visit friends along the way". Chris was celebrated for doing something completely unique. This with a vehicle that is not really designed for travelling, but his conversions have made everything possible. He documented much of this on YouTube. He was also able to stow his Motocompo in his trailer, the highly sought-after folding scooter was sold in Japan by the automaker in the early '80s. Release and fold down the handlebars, flatten out the seat, flip up the pegs, and the boxy-shaped scooter could be picked up and stowed securely in the city's cargo area. Even THAT, together with his dog trailer, was realised true to scale in the model!
Chris's idea was to make it much easier to explore certain parts of the city where he had set up shop with his vehicle. Sitting in his dream car with his dog Cassius and travelling all over the USA was all Chris has ever wanted. A journey to the exciting unknown. Now Chris embarked on his last journey to heaven.
