Nissan Skyline GTR R33 400R with MOTN LED-Lights? – KYOSHO FEATURETTE

The 400R:

It was the headline par excellence almost 3 years ago in 2022: an English dealer was asking almost 2 million euros for a Nismo 400R with 61,000 kilometres. There were only 40 of the 400R, some of which were sold in different colours, such as navy blue, purple, silver or, as in the case of this model here: Yellow. Originally, the genuine Nismo 400R cost around 100,000 euros when new. The Skyline on offer is based on the R33 model series, which Nissan built from 1993 to 1998. The Nissan motorsport department (Nismo) took the original Skyline to task. The car is a tribute to the Nissan Skyline GT-R LM, which competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1995 and 1996. It is obvious that the designation 400R comes from its engine power. The 2.8-litre engine produces 400 hp. The Skyline GT-R, on the other hand, has 280 horses under the bonnet. Like its weaker brother, the 400R pushes itself along the road on all fours.

But it wasn't just the engine that the Japanese from Nismo worked on. Among other things, the 400R was given a modified exhaust system, a different clutch and a 50 percent lighter carbon fibre drive shaft. The suspension is also stiffer thanks to Bilstein dampers. Nismo also widened the track and the Brembo brakes are designed to give the Skyline better deceleration. Aerodynamic refinements have been made to the skin of the 400R, which also make it stand out visually from the standard GT-R. The rims are from the Nismo LM-GT1. But it's not just its brute appearance that makes the right-hand drive car stand out. Nismo has placed its emblem everywhere on and in the car. A 400R-style vinyl strip also adorns the Skyline.

Kyosho brings the 400R eMOTNionally to life!

The company Kyosho, which is mainly known to us for RC vehicles or 1:18 scale models, has also released an extremely large number of 1:64 scale models over the years. These include countless road cars, racing cars and Formula 1 racing cars. How do we know this so well? Many of these gems have been in our collection for many years. So it's all the more pleasing that Kyosho is continuing the journey and presenting a brand new Nissan Skyline GTR R33 400R that the model car world has never seen before! And it comes with a MOTN LED function. The packaging of the model itself indicates that this is no ordinary model, but a MOTN vehicle.

It's that simple: Take the USB-C connection cable to the adapter and MOTN plate, plug it in and the R33 lights up all by itself!

To be more precise, it has built-in LED lights at the front and rear that light up when they come into contact with the base plate. The base plate is packaged in a separate box and only requires a USB-c cable with adapter to connect it to the socket. The yellow base of the car can then be connected to the black MOTN plate and the 400R starts to light up. Thanks to the LED lights, the lamps are also noticeable and shine beautifully into the darkness. The best thing is that the model continues to shine even when unscrewed from the yellow base plate. Contact is only lost at a distance of a few centimetres from the plate, and with it the light. The advantage of this is that a carpet, diorama plate or other surface can easily be placed between the car and the MOTN plate. This keeps the lights of the Nissan Skyline on. Only after almost 10 minutes do the lights go out for safety reasons to avoid overheating. Now be sure to watch the video down below from our Youtube channel where reflected the whole process, functionality and model in detail:

The model itself is simply perfect, as you would expect from Kyosho. The details are right, the quality either way! What are your thoughts of the recently introduced MOTN function? In any case, we are really enthusiastic and would be delighted if Kyosho were to offer more models with the MOTN function. No doubt about that. We are HYPED!
