Hot Wheels delivery from TOMS Modelcars, the diecast heaven! – FEATURETTE
TOMS Modelcars has become a well-known name among collectors, model car enthusiasts, and automotive fans alike. And if, by any chance, you have not heard of them yet – which we can hardly imagine – here is a quick recap. Located at Voltastraat 51 in Purmerend, Netherlands, TOMS Modelcars is home to what is very likely the largest model car shop in the world. With an impressive warehouse space of 4,000 m² and a retail area of 750 m², this place is truly a paradise for collectors. Countless brands, dozens of scales ranging from tiny to large, and an incredible variety of model cars make it a destination unlike any other. We also had the chance to benefit from this seemingly endless selection of die-cast models, and the huge package we received certainly did not disappoint. You can watch the complete unboxing on our YouTube channel, which we have linked here for you:
Hot Wheels Goodies
Hot Wheels is best known for its wide range of model cars across different series such as Premium, Mainline, Red Line Club, and many more. However, thanks to TOMS, we were pleasantly surprised to discover that Hot Wheels – or rather Mattel – offers far more than just model cars, especially in the merchandise department. For a quick refresh between collecting sessions, there are Hot Wheels mint candies. For your drinks, there are coasters in a stylish Hot Wheels vintage design. And Mattel has even thought of greeting cards, so you can share your passion with others. After all, every collector should have a way to show just how strongly the Hot Wheels spirit runs through their veins.
Hot Wheels Thrill Climbers
Another highlight included in the large package was the brand-new Hot Wheels Thrill Climbers set, featuring a lineup that we personally find extremely well put together. Among the models are the Mitsubishi Evolution, Subaru Impreza STI, Porsche 914 Safari, the legendary Mercedes “Rote Sau” finished entirely in black, and our personal highlight: the ultimate Group B monster, the Lancia Delta S4. The Chaser model – the rare number 0 of 5 – was not included. In our opinion, however, it does not really fit the theme anyway. The randomly inserted special edition in gold is a Chevy Bel Air Gasser, which honestly has very little to do with hill climb racing. At TOMS, depending on the Premium series, you can purchase either 5-car sets or 10-car sets. Since the 10-car sets are still factory-sealed, there is always a chance that one of those rare 0/5 Chasers might be waiting inside.
Chaser Models
Speaking of Chasers: TOMS also offers the possibility to purchase certain Chaser models individually if you want to complete a set. Naturally, these are more expensive than regular Hot Wheels Premium models, but they are still far more reasonably priced than what you often find elsewhere on the internet. Of course, it always depends on the model itself. A Roxy Porsche, which is currently trading for more than 350 CHF, will most likely not be found at TOMS anymore either. Still, we think it is great that collectors still have the chance to pick up the occasional Chaser – such as the black Audi RS6 featured here.
Keep Them Safe
A large portion of this package also included PET protectors from Friki Monkey in collaboration with Hot Wheels. These protectors are delivered in boxes of 10 and are available in several different versions. This makes it possible to safely store everything from Premium cards with wider packaging to Silver Series and Long Cards with their taller, slimmer format, as well as short cards and even Team Transport models. As many collectors know, some Hot Wheels models have significantly increased in value over time. One of the key factors for maintaining that value is keeping the original packaging in perfect condition. That is exactly where Friki Monkey protectors come in – they are an excellent solution for protecting your collection. For rare Super Treasure Hunts in particular – especially for European collectors dealing with short cards – proper protection is essential. Short card protectors can actually be surprisingly difficult to find. You can find all the details in our YouTube video linked above. The link to TOMS Modelcars is provided just below – or, if you ever get the chance, make the pilgrimage to Purmerend yourself and experience this incredible place in person. And once again a huge thanks goes out to TOMS for their support!
