DCM TOYOTA GT4586 – TOYOTARI FEATURETTE
"Slightly upgraded!"
Instead of GT86, it is now called Toyota GT4586 - a combination of the names of both models. The car was exhibited at the SEMA 2016 tuning show in Las Vegas - without the bonnet, because logically it no longer fits. The 4.5-litre flat-plane V8 with 570 hp is significantly higher than the original 2.0-litre four-cylinder boxer (200 hp). Formula Drift driver Ryan Tuerck and his sponsor, the American additive and engine oil manufacturer Gumout, equipped a Toyota GT86 with a Ferrari V8 in 2017.
Formula Drift, or Formula D for short, is a US-based motorsport drift series that has been held annually between April and October at various locations since 2003. Tuerck has been involved in professional drifting since 2007, but has never been crowned Formula Drift Champion, apart from a few podium finishes. Nevertheless, Tuerck counts itself as a leading social influencer, not least due to nearly 70-million impressions since its 2016 launch of the GT458!
The GT4586 in detail:
While there are already some GT86s with American V8 engines, this plan was particularly difficult to implement because, firstly, no one had dared to do it before and, secondly, the Ferrari's engine needs a little more space because it is normally installed as a mid-engine and does not have to fit under the flat front of a sports car.
The result: the windscreen had to be cut into and the airbox relocated to the dashboard to ensure the air supply of the unit with standard 4.5 litre displacement and 570 hp. In addition, the exhaust now runs in front of the engine to the sides, which meant that the tailpipes had to be positioned in front of the front wheels. This circumstance has meant that the radiator of the Toyota GT4586 has had to move to the rear. It now sits above the rear axle and gets the necessary air flow through an air scoop on the roof.

These include his first drift attempts with the GT4586, event visits to the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2019 and Tuerck's crash landing on camera in collaboration with Donut Media. This crash broke suspension components on the front right passenger-side of the car pulling Tuerck tinto a ditch on the side of the road. Watch the video down below if you dare!
Fortunately, at least DCM's 1/64th scale model remained intact (the original was thankfully also restored). The detail of the engine compartment is one of the best details of a model car in this scale we could ever get in front of the camera! This fascinating sight of the two Ferrai cylinder bench covers alone should be an absolute selling point for drift fans and those who want to be!
