Tarmacworks Ferrari 488 GT3 BPGT Series 2018 – Special Edition FEATURETTE
A toast to its exclusivity!
„It’s shiny, it’s special, it’s fast: Of course because it’s a Ferrari!“, a typical statement when it comes to evaluating the cars from Maranello in the heart of Italy. Except for the fast part as mentioned before, we can fully agree!
The Ferrari 488 GT3 shone more with its eye-catching Singha livery than with victories on the race track during the Blancpain GT Series 2018. The strikingly beautiful yellow-blue-white Singha beer livery of the team TP 12 – Kessel Racing was the ideal reason for Tarmacworks (teamed up with IXO-models) to take up the cause and give this special model a try. The Special Edition sticker on the left top corner of the packaging indicates without a doubt: It’s going to be expensive!
Strongly limited
While other people go wild for 30,000-units limited Red Line Club models we’re talk about only 2544 units in this case! These were primarily promoted at the Animation Comic Game Con in Hong Kong 2022 but also sold abroad to resellers where we tried our luck to catch one of these for a fairly good price. Therefore, we are talking about double to triple the price of the regular Tarmacworks models in the Ferrari 488 GT-series out in the wilds of webshops. But luckily that’s not the case on the official Tarmacworks website (link at the end), where you can buy all the Ferrari versions at very fair prices!
A promising future
We have had a long dry spell with Ferrari models in 1/64th scale, as Hot Wheels for example stopped its production of Ferraris since 2013 due to the discontinuation of a mutual licensing agreement. The Bburago models are unfortunately somewhat larger, while Tomica vehicles are not that easy to get here in Europe.
In the premium segment we therefore missed a perfect suiting brand even more! Good news when Tarmacworks announced in February 2022 that the calls will be heared and dreams will come true!
Attention to detail
In the meantime, we collectors have been able to add many different racing liveries of the 488 and 458 GT series to our collections. It is therefore only a matter of time before we also welcome Ferrari road cars such as the Ferrari F40 or Enzo Ferrari!
